This program allows for electric service to be continued for up to 30 days for any qualifying customer whose disconnection would cause a medical emergency.
Eligible customers include those with qualified serious medical conditions who are in danger of disconnection for non-payment or have been disconnected for non-payment within the last 30 days. Serious medical conditions are those where a physician certifies that the loss of utility service will gravely impair health for older adults or infant children under the age of 12 months.
The certificate may be renewed one time for up to an additional 30 days if the renewal occurs before the initial 30-day period expires. Customers will be sent a dated renewal letter that must be returned on or before that date to recertify.
To receive this benefit, the customer must provide medical documentation from a physician.
